Day 6: Resting Up on the Train

This morning we woke up for our last morning at the Hotel St Pierre in Paris.

We made our way down the old lift for the last time and checked out. We got some breakfast and wandered through a small fresh food market on the streetside.
It was a good time to be leaving Paris as it was drizzling with rain.

We caught the bus to Gare de Lyon train station and headed for Lyon.
Within 5 minutes we were out in the suburbs and industrialised areas of Paris. It's funny how all outer fringe suburbs of major cities have a similar feel around the world. Despite the different characters of the main cities, the fringes have a very similar vibe. It felt like I was passing through Lidcombe or Granville in Sydney.

The view from the train window quickly changed to a more scenic one, with green pastures and farm land. It was quite relaxing gazing out the window and resting. Simi took the opportunity to sleep as well as write in her journal.

It was only 2 hours and we were in Lyon. Gotta love these fast trains. We hopped on the next one and headed for the snow. 3 hours later and a good rest under our belt we got to Moutiers where we hopped on a bus and headed up the mountain.
Today has been like a designated rest day in the Tour de France - greatly needed.
We arrived in Meribel Centre, after a minor hiccup of being dropped off originally in Meribel Village, a km further down the road.
It's a pretty place, lots if old timber chalets and hotels and stone paths covered in snow. Snow was lightly falling and we were both excited!

After checking into our hotel and sorting out all out gear and things we headed down the road to the town centre. It was now 8pm and snowing more heavily.
But it was still very pretty.

Looking forward to a busy week of skiing ahead.

Time for some more rest!
