Day 11: Foggy & Soggy

Today was a stark contrast from yesterday. Whilst we awoke to a fresh dusting of snow, it was cloudy and very gloomy!
I headed out early just after 9 whilst simi stayed inside for a bit longer. By the time I got my first lift up it was raining and snowing heavily, and at the top of the mountain I was wishing I had stayed inside with Sim.
The wind was howling and sweeping snow everywhere. It was like that scene at the start of Empire Strikes Back, (without the storm troopers)
I made my way down very cautiously as it was pretty much a white out and I could barely see 10 meters in front of me. It wasn't a great deal of fun. At the bottom of the mountain I decided to take a break for a bit, have an espresso and wait to see if it would clear a bit.

It didn't!

Realising it wasn't going to get much better I thought I better head back up and do some more runs anyway! I made my way up to the top of the Meribel and Les Menuires valley border. The plan for today was to go over into the other valley, however many of the lifts and runs were closed, so that ruined that.
I skied back down the long intermediate runs a few times before making my way back into Meribel-Mottaret where I was meeting back up with sim for lunch. We had an early lunch at 12:30ish.
Lunch was the highlight of the day, as I tried the famous 'Mountain Burger'. It was delicious and huge. Perfect for a acold and wet day like this one.

Simi and I decided to rest for a while and stay indoors in the warmth, so we did a little souvenir shopping and then sat in one of the bars for a hot chocolate (but mainly the warmth)

After a long break, the rain and snow was unrelenting so we made our way back over to Meribel centre for one last run and called it a day early.
It was a shame because we both were feeling good!
Anyway. A snowstorm swept through the town and it was much more enticing to stay indoors and watch the Olympics than go outside, so we did!

Hopefully tomorrow is a more eventful day!
